Yes, the 20 m waterproof antenna can be used with both variTRON 300 and variTRON 500 touch systems. However, it’s important to understand that long antenna cables are not always advisable.

As antenna cable length increases, so does signal attenuation, which reduces the overall transmission range.
Our datasheet specifies a transmission range of 300 m (line of sight)—this value is based on tests performed using the standard antenna wall‑holder and a 3 m cable.

Here’s how cable length affects performance:

• Using a 10 m cable adds roughly 6.5 dB attenuation (7 × 0.933 dB).
  ➝ This reduces the transmission range by about 50%, bringing it down to approximately 150 m.

• Using a 20 m cable increases the loss even further.
  ➝ The expected transmission range drops to roughly 50 m.

These extended cable lengths were originally introduced for applications where the signal needed to pass through thick walls, and shorter cables simply couldn’t provide reliable communication. They are not ideal for all installations, especially where long-distance transmission is required.

The good news:
All antenna cables and accessories from the Wtrans receiver lineup are fully compatible with variTRON systems as well.
